Neurodivergent Affirming Assessments
A neurodivergent affirming assessment process is one which is based on the premise that difference is difference, not deficit. A belief that difference should be named, known, and accepted underpins the assessment process.
Psychological assessment can be daunting, and often people come seeking answers, while not being sure of the process or possible outcomes. It can be an emotional experience, both the assessment process and the outcome. It can also be somewhat cathartic, as people begin to see their journey through new eyes. In addition, those with whom you choose to share this process often find themselves on their own journey of reflection, understanding and celebration.
An autism assessment occurs across 3-4 sessions, which cover life experiences, ranging from childhood through to schooling and adulthood. Questionnaires, and a conversation with another adult who knows you, or a parent, are also part of the process. A full rundown of the assessment process is outlined on the Assessment Process and FAQ's pages, or downloadable via the information sheet, available here.
Cost for assessment is $1800. At the end of the assessment, you are provided with a diagnostic report, which can be used to access support services, as well as a clinic letter briefly outlining the assessment process and findings. This allows for proof of diagnosis to be shared with employers or other institutions without disclosing your full report/life history.
